About the Association
Upholding standards, providing service with heart.
Thai massage and spa: Advancing towards international standards.
Thai massage is a profession that has brought fame to Thai people both in Thailand and abroad. Thai massage is praised by clients as the best among all types of massages, leading to increasing recognition and popularity, especially internationally.
As Thai massage became more well-known and widespread, problems arose, such as unlicensed masseurs, the use of massage as a cover for illegal activities, a lack of safe knowledge and skills among masseurs, and constantly changing laws. This led to the formation of an organization by Thai massage therapists in 2008 to help them work legally and to dispel negative perceptions of the industry.
The American Association of Thai Massage and Spa was officially established on 4 August 2016 with Kanittha Perraida as its first president and is certified as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Donations are tax-deductible.
